WW1 Military Mail was created by hfisher
I should be most grateful if anyone can advise me what 'N de F' means either typed or handwritten on a WW1 Military cover. On the two covers I have with it on (one typed and the other handwritten) it is accompanied by 'S. M.' which obviously means Service Militaire.

It means "Nécessité de Fermer" indicating the need to seal an envelope which has been left open for censorship or checking.
